Wendt Corporation of Tonawanda, New York, has custom designed and built a shredder to replace the 10-year old Newell 98x104 used by Metal Management of Memphis, Tennessee. Wendt was able to custom manufacture a 98x104 shredder that provides many of the new features found on the recently-introduced ‘Heavy’ line, including a drop-in front wall, deflector top and self-supported grates which are fully supported to the base plate. The new unit fits into the ‘footprint’ of the old shredder while also allowing Metal Management to reuse the disc rotor as well as many of the existing castings and liner plates.

The secretariat of the International Lead & Zinc Study Group (ILZSG) has moved from London to new headquarters in Lisbon. ILZSG’s Head of Forecasting and Statistics Paul White and its Head of Economics and Environment Ian Burrell are relocating to the Portuguese capital.
ILZSG’s new address is: Rua Almirante Barroso 38, 5th Floor 1000, 013 Lisbon, Portugal. E-mail addresses remain the same while new telephone and fax numbers were due to be issued once the office was up and running.

Powerscreen International of Northern Ireland, a member of the international Terex Corporation, has been awarded the coveted title of Invest Northern Ireland’s ‘Exporter of the Year 2004’ by the Northern Ireland Economic Development Agency. * Metso Texas Shredder
Metso Minerals is to supply two shredders to leading US scrap processor Alter Trading Corp. The first is due to be installed by the end of April at Alter Trading’s new scrap recycling operation in Mobile, Alabama. The second is scheduled to be delivered to Alter’s facility in Iowa by the summer.
The Alabama delivery comprises a 5000 hp shredder and complete ferrous and non-ferrous downstream options; this shredder will process 27 000 tonnes of scrap metal per month. The Iowa contract comprises a 4000 hp shredder with ferrous downstream only; this shredder will process 7000-9000 tonnes of scrap per month.
The equipment will be delivered by Metso Texas Shredder, Inc., the leading supplier of metal shredder plants and related after-market services in North America.
