No agreement on global waste trade ban |

Parties to the United Nations’ Basel Convention on trade in hazardous waste remain divided on the entry into force of a global ban on toxic waste exports from OECD to non-OECD countries that was adopted in 1995. Governments meeting last month in Bali signalled growing support for putting the ban into effect but a group of countries - led by Japan, the USA and India - favour a further delay.
